Digital Download Info
Thank you for your Digital Download purchase!
All of the download formats are available in a zip file upon checkout. The files have to be accessed from a computer with unzipping software – you cannot download the file directly onto an iphone or iPad because these devices do not have unzipping software. The digital download files do not run on phones or tablets since most devices do not have unzipping software. You must download to a computer and then transfer to your preferred device.
Download links can be found under your account page: My Account
Download links expire in (7) seven days.
What is a FLAC file?
FLAC is a free codec allowing the lossless compression of audio files. It implies that your audio files won’t lose in terms of quality. The only drawback is that a FLAC file will be still too heavy (about half the size of the original Wave files). Mp3 is one of the most commonly used audio file format.
I downloaded FLAC and I’m having trouble playing it back. Any advice?
iTunes does not support FLAC, but you knew that already, right? Good. The second most common cause of problems with FLAC files is having outdated software. Before pulling your hair out, check online, get the latest version and try again. If that doesn’t work try another FLAC program. We personally use VLC for playback and the command line flac tools for converting to WAV.
The source of the problem is that a lot of older software can’t handle FLACs with sample sizes greater than 16 bits or sample rates higher than 44.1kHz. We encourage artists to upload the highest quality sources they can get their hands on, and more and more tracks are 24-bit/96kHz (what a great world we live in). On unsupported software these FLACs sound wrecked by static, or superloud, or they just won’t play at all. Some albums have a mix of 16- and 24-bit audio which explains why you might be able to play some tracks but not others.
The bottom line is that FLAC is great! Software support for FLAC is still iffy, especially for the newer high quality formats.
